Seattle, WA – Western Washington residents should prepare for gusty winds and wet weather early next week, with forecasters warning of possible localized power outages and minor tree damage.
According to the National Weather Service Seattle, coastal communities and the north interior will see the strongest winds as a storm front moves in late Sunday night into Monday, continuing through Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecast maps show wind gusts reaching 43 mph in Forks, 36 mph in Bellingham, and up to 31 mph in Mount Vernon by Monday night. Seattle and Tacoma are expected to see lighter gusts near 20–22 mph.
By Tuesday night, gusts will remain elevated in many areas, with Forks again peaking near 43 mph and Bellingham holding near 34 mph. Communities including Everett, Arlington, and Port Angeles are forecast to see gusts in the 26–31 mph range.
Meteorologists caution that while these winds are not extreme, they are strong enough to cause scattered power outages, down small tree limbs, and make travel more difficult, particularly along exposed coastal highways and bridges. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and prepare for possible brief disruptions.
Rain is also expected to accompany the system throughout the week, potentially adding to travel delays.
