SPOKANE, Wash. – A blustery Pacific system is stirring across eastern Washington this morning, rattling windows and sweeping leaves through city streets as the first signs of winter creep into view. By midday, showers will build, winds will roar, and Spokane’s weekend weather will shift toward its first flirtation with mountain snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory through early Sunday morning. Gusts could reach 45 to 50 mph across open areas, especially along I-90 between Spokane and Ritzville. Residents should secure outdoor decorations, garbage bins, and light lawn furniture before the wind peaks later today.

Rain becomes widespread by afternoon, possibly turning heavy at times. Saturday’s high reaches near 56°F before falling sharply after sunset. Mountain passes could see their first snowflakes late tonight as snow levels drop toward 3,300 feet by early Sunday. Travelers heading east toward Lookout Pass or north along Highway 2 should prepare for wet and occasionally slushy conditions by late Sunday morning.

Sunday stays breezy with scattered showers and highs near 52°F, while Monday brings only isolated drizzle under cooler air. A chilly pattern follows through midweek—highs in the low 50s, lows near freezing—with a few early hints of a possible Halloween frost for rural valleys.

The week ahead leans drier, but colder air lingers—a sign that a chilly November isn’t far behind.
