Spokane, Wash. – Washington drivers face a damp commute Tuesday morning as scattered rain moves across Spokane County, making for slick conditions on I-90 and surrounding highways. Motorists should slow down and allow extra time, with showers expected to linger through late morning before skies begin to gradually clear.

According to the National Weather Service, a 40 percent chance of showers holds until midmorning Tuesday, followed by clearing skies and a high near 71. Winds from the south will increase to 10–11 mph, with gusts reaching 21 mph. Tuesday night will cool quickly, dipping to around 50, with low clouds lingering across the Spokane Valley.

By Wednesday, sunshine returns for much of the Inland Northwest, though scattered showers may still brush northern counties. Highs will reach the upper 60s in Spokane, while overnight lows will slip into the mid-40s. Breezy winds remain a factor, especially for travelers along U.S. 395 and State Route 2.

Thursday marks the official shift into a drier, brighter stretch, bringing partly sunny skies and highs near 68. By Friday, forecasters expect full sun and fall-perfect weather, making outdoor activities, orchard visits, and commutes far easier after Tuesday’s soggy start.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for quick changes in conditions: keep rain gear handy early this week, then plan for cooler but pleasant afternoons by midweek. Fire danger remains low given the moisture, but cooler nights may bring patchy fog to valleys and river corridors.

Sunny weather holds through the weekend, offering a welcome start to October across eastern Washington.
