Spokane, Washington – Spring rains return to Spokane Thursday afternoon, bringing a fresh round of scattered showers and wind gusts that could affect commutes and outdoor events along U.S. Route 2 and I-90.
According to the National Weather Service, Spokane has a 30 percent chance of rain between noon and 2 p.m. Thursday, with cloudy skies and a high near 66°F. Winds will pick up from the southwest at 6 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph. Though rainfall totals are expected to be light, reduced visibility and slick roads may cause delays during peak travel hours.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down on wet pavement and watch for pooling water on low-lying roads. Outdoor plans may need adjusting, especially mid-afternoon into the evening. Thursday night will clear up slightly, remaining mostly cloudy with a low near 46°F and lighter winds.
The unsettled pattern continues through Saturday. Friday brings mostly cloudy skies and a 40 percent chance of light showers before 11 a.m., paired with a high of 61°F. Winds remain breezy. Saturday’s rain chance increases to 50 percent, with daytime highs near 68°F and overnight lows dipping to 47°F.
Looking ahead, Sunday and Monday show a slight improvement with just a 30 percent rain chance early Sunday and drier, milder air moving in by Monday. Highs could climb to near 69°F by Tuesday.
Rain gear and caution are recommended through the weekend as Spokane stays locked in a spring-like, unsettled pattern. More advisories may follow.
