Potlatch, WA – Minor flooding continues along the Skokomish River in Mason County after heavy rainfall pushed river levels above flood stage Friday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, the river rose to 16.6 feet by 7:30 p.m. PDT, surpassing its 16.5-foot flood threshold. Forecasters expect the river to crest at 16.9 feet late Friday before gradually receding below flood stage by Saturday afternoon. The flood warning remains in effect until late Saturday evening.

The flooding is primarily affecting pasture lands along the Skokomish River, with water flowing rapidly over West Bourgault Road and Skokomish Valley Road. Officials caution motorists to avoid barricaded or submerged roads and emphasize the importance of heeding all posted signs. “Turn around, don’t drown,” the NWS reiterated.

Residents in low-lying areas are urged to remain alert and consider relocating livestock or equipment to higher ground. No major infrastructure damage or injuries have been reported.
