Seattle, Washington – Drivers across western Washington could encounter slick roads at times today and Thursday as widespread showers move across the region, with heavier bursts briefly lowering snow levels and allowing a rain-and-snow mix in some lowland areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, showers will persist through Thursday, with the heaviest precipitation capable of dragging snow levels down toward the lowlands at times. While most areas will see rain, brief snowflakes could mix in during heavier showers, particularly overnight and early morning hours.

Forecasters emphasize that any snow accumulation in lowland communities, including Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, and Olympia, is expected to be spotty and short-lived. The probability of more than one inch of snow remains below 10 percent across most lowland locations. Higher terrain and foothill communities stand a better chance of seeing light accumulation.

Even without meaningful snow buildup, wet roads, reduced visibility, and occasional slushy patches could slow travel, especially on bridges, overpasses, and shaded roadways. Commuters are urged to allow extra travel time, use headlights during heavier showers, and remain alert for changing conditions.

Showers are expected to gradually ease later Thursday, though damp roads and cool temperatures will linger. Additional updates or advisories may be issued if snow levels fluctuate more than expected.
