Seattle, WA – A gray curtain of rain is sliding across western Washington this morning as another Pacific system moves into Puget Sound, setting up a wet, slow start to the first week of December. Forecasters expect light to moderate rain through Tuesday morning, with damp roads and low clouds clinging to the foothills around Everett, Tacoma, and Seattle.
According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, rain chances rise sharply after sunrise with steady showers through Tuesday midday before tapering to drizzle by afternoon. Though totals will stay modest — generally under a quarter inch — slick travel and reduced visibility will affect early commuters along I-5, I-405, and Highway 99.
Temperatures will hover in the mid-40s, cool enough for light frost in sheltered valleys by midweek once the skies clear. Wednesday looks drier and brighter, with mostly cloudy conditions and highs near 45°F.
By Thursday and Friday, another front will bring renewed rain and gusty winds, continuing the region’s early-December wet stretch. Weekend highs should stay mild, near 50°F, but low clouds and mist will persist through Saturday.
Residents are urged to drive cautiously, use headlights in rain or fog, and keep drainage areas clear as minor pooling develops.
