SEATTLE, Wash. – The calm before the rain ends soon across western Washington as a new Pacific storm train sets its sights on Puget Sound. Skies are quiet early today, but a steady wet pattern is ready to build — beginning with light rain late Saturday and ramping up through Sunday and Monday.

By late Saturday, moisture from the Pacific will move inland, bringing showers that grow steadier overnight. Expect periods of moderate rain Sunday with totals near 0.25 to 0.5 inch, possibly higher in foothill areas. The National Weather Service in Seattle warns that ponding on roads and reduced visibility could affect I-5 and I-90 travel, especially during the Sunday evening return window.

Daytime highs stay mild, near 50°F, but nighttime lows dip into the upper 30s and low 40s, adding to the damp chill. Winds remain light — though coastal gusts could reach 20 mph as the front pushes east. The wet pattern persists into early Monday before easing into scattered showers and partial clearing midweek.

Looking ahead, long-range guidance hints at a cooler, more active pattern approaching Thanksgiving week, potentially dropping snow levels in the Cascades and introducing the first early winter travel challenges east of the passes. Across the U.S., a larger cold-air push late next week may bring heavy snow from the Rockies to the Midwest between Nov. 25 and Dec. 3.

For now, Seattle settles into a classic November stretch — gray skies, wet sidewalks, and a slow buildup of rainfall that reminds residents winter is closing in fast.
