Spokane, WA – Spokane residents should prepare for icy road conditions as temperatures drop to 13°F overnight. Wet surfaces from recent precipitation will refreeze, creating slick spots across the region.

According to the National Weather Service Spokane, patchy black ice is expected, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses. Freezing fog will further reduce visibility between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Sunday.

Drivers should slow down, allow extra braking distance, and avoid sudden stops. Pedestrians should use caution on sidewalks, as untreated areas may also be slippery.

Sunday’s forecast brings clearing conditions with highs reaching 29°F. However, lingering ice may persist in shaded areas. Another round of freezing fog is expected late Sunday night as temperatures drop to 9°F.

Authorities urge residents to check road conditions before traveling and use extra caution on bridges and rural roads. Warmer daytime temperatures will improve conditions, but overnight freezing remains a concern through early next week.
