Washington wakes to misty air, slick pavement, and tidewater pressing inland along the Puget Sound. Parking lots glimmer near the shoreline as water levels rise quickly around daybreak, creating brief but disruptive flooding risks for coastal neighborhoods.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through midmorning as unusually high tides push water 1 to 2 feet above ground level in vulnerable areas. The advisory covers much of the central and northwest Washington coastline, including Seattle, Everett, Shoreline, and parts of the Kitsap Peninsula.

Minor flooding is expected near high tide, especially along waterfront parks, marinas, and low-lying roads near Elliott Bay and the Duwamish shoreline. Isolated road closures are possible, though widespread shutdowns are not anticipated. Drivers should slow down near Alaskan Way and other coastal routes where standing water may reduce visibility.

Fog adds another layer of concern early, keeping visibility low across downtown Seattle and near Boeing Field. Allow extra time if commuting, and avoid driving through water of unknown depth. Saltwater intrusion can damage vehicles and nearby property.

Rain chances remain elevated through Monday, with steady showers possible before conditions gradually improve. Temperatures stay cool, hovering in the low 50s before warming slightly by midweek. While this event brings only minor flooding, February tides often magnify impacts quickly.

Looking ahead, calmer conditions arrive Tuesday as clouds thin and rain tapers. By midweek, sunshine returns and temperatures climb toward 60 degrees, offering a quieter stretch after a damp start to February.
