Seattle, WA – The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Cascades of Whatcom and Skagit Counties, warning of high-elevation snowfall beginning late Saturday night and continuing through Sunday evening.
Forecasters say the storm will bring 4 to 8 inches of snow, with the heaviest accumulations expected above 4,500 feet, including Mount Baker and Rainy Pass. Snowfall may begin as early as 11 p.m. Saturday and continue through 11 p.m. Sunday, with slick and snow-covered road conditions likely along mountain passes.
Drivers and hikers heading into the backcountry are urged to prepare for winter weather, carry emergency supplies, and check road conditions before traveling. Lower elevations will likely see rain or a mix of rain and snow, but accumulations should remain confined to higher terrain.
The weather service advises motorists to slow down and use caution on mountain roads, as early-season snow can create unexpected travel hazards.
