SPOKANE, Wash. – A frosty chill will blanket Spokane and surrounding valleys through Friday morning before a warmer, wetter turn arrives by the weekend. Residents should protect tender plants and outdoor plumbing as temperatures dip near freezing during the early morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, widespread frost is likely both Thursday and Friday mornings as calm winds and clear skies allow temperatures to fall into the lower 30s. The agency urges drivers along I-90 and Highway 2 to allow extra time for potential early-morning fog and slick patches on rural roads.

Daytime highs will rebound near 60°F under sunny skies through Friday, offering ideal conditions for fall yard work, leaf cleanup, and late pumpkin patch visits. By Saturday night, a Pacific system will push inland, bringing a 60% chance of rain and cooler air into Sunday.

“Temperatures will drop quickly again late Sunday night as snow levels fall near 4,000 feet,” forecasters said. “Higher mountain passes could see slush by early Monday.” Campers and hunters across the Selkirk Mountains should prepare for rapidly changing weather and possible wet snow in higher terrain.

Spokane residents can expect a true mix of fall this week — frosty dawns, mild afternoons, and a wet finale by Sunday night.
