Western Washington is experiencing dangerously cold wind chills as a Cold Weather Advisory remains active through 10 a.m. Wednesday. Temperatures are dropping as low as 10°F to 20°F, with wind chills making conditions feel even colder.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle, the advisory covers Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, Bellevue, Bremerton, and surrounding areas. The freezing conditions increase the risk of hypothermia, especially for those without adequate heating or shelter. Residents should stay indoors, use safe heating methods, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
The forecast for the next five days shows a gradual warm-up by Thursday, but snow chances increase by the end of the week. A slight chance of snow is expected Thursday, with heavier snowfall possible Friday morning before transitioning to rain. Highs will climb into the upper 30s to low 40s by the weekend.
Drivers should prepare for icy roads, especially during morning commutes. Emergency officials urge residents to avoid using generators or grills indoors due to carbon monoxide risks. Stay updated with local forecasts as the cold spell continues.
