Spokane, WA – Flags whip and trees sway sharply this morning across eastern Washington as powerful southwest winds intensify under a regionwide Wind Advisory. Gusts are expected to reach up to 55 mph through early Thursday, creating hazardous travel and the potential for scattered power outages from Spokane south to the Palouse.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, sustained winds between 25 and 35 mph will continue through much of the day, with the strongest gusts expected along open roadways, including I-90, U.S. 195, and Route 2. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should exercise caution, particularly in exposed rural stretches where crosswinds can make steering difficult.

Tree limbs may break, unsecured items could be blown around, and minor property damage is possible. Utility crews are on alert as isolated power outages are expected in spots across Spokane Valley, Cheney, and Davenport. The weather service advises residents to secure outdoor decorations, trash bins, and holiday displays ahead of the strongest gusts.

Rain will accompany the wind at times today, with temperatures hovering in the mid-50s. Conditions ease late Thursday, giving way to partly cloudy skies Friday and a calmer start to the weekend.
