Seattle, Washington – Sensitive plants across western Washington could be damaged within hours as temperatures drop into the low 30s before sunrise Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, another round of frost is expected early Thursday morning, especially in colder inland areas where temperatures may briefly dip to near or just below freezing between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Communities including Olympia, Tacoma, Everett, and parts of the Puget Sound interior are most at risk, particularly in low-lying and rural areas where colder air settles overnight.
The brief freeze could harm gardens, crops, and outdoor plants left unprotected. Residents are urged to cover vegetation, bring potted plants indoors, and protect exposed outdoor plumbing if temperatures drop near freezing.
Conditions will improve later Thursday as temperatures rebound into the 50s, but the early morning window poses the greatest risk.
Additional advisories could be issued if colder temperatures expand across western Washington overnight.
