Easton, WA – Snow is stacking up fast along the upper slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest, where up to 10 inches could fall before 10 a.m. Monday, making travel treacherous through the mountain corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Monday for the Upper Slopes of the Eastern Washington Cascades Crest. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches are expected, with wind gusts reaching 35 mph. Periods of heavier snowfall may briefly reduce visibility below a half mile.

Communities including Easton and Roslyn will see steady snowfall, especially in higher elevations and along exposed roadways. Snow-covered pavement and drifting snow could slow traffic along mountain routes and secondary roads. Drivers should anticipate longer travel times and chain requirements in higher passes.

Blowing snow may create sudden whiteout conditions during heavier bursts. Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance and check updated road conditions at wsdot.wa.gov/travel before departing.

Snow is expected to taper after sunrise Monday, but slick roads could linger into the late morning commute. Additional advisories remain possible if snowfall rates increase overnight.
