Seattle, WA – After strong overnight winds swept across Washington, steady rain will dominate the region’s weather through the weekend, bringing potential travel concerns and soggy conditions.

The National Weather Service reports that winds reaching up to 60 mph hit coastal areas Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. As the gusts subside, Seattle and surrounding communities can now expect persistent rain beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing through Saturday.

Thursday’s forecast calls for a 60% chance of rain after 4 p.m., accompanied by southeast winds of 6 to 8 mph. Temperatures will hover around 52 degrees. Evening rain will likely intensify into the night, with precipitation totals reaching up to a tenth of an inch.

Friday offers brief breaks from showers, with a 30% chance of scattered rain by the afternoon. Highs will remain mild, topping out near 55 degrees. Rain will pick up again by Friday night, dampening conditions for the start of the weekend.

Saturday brings the heaviest rainfall, with a steady downpour expected to last throughout the day. Daytime highs will reach 53 degrees, but wet roadways could create hazardous driving conditions, especially on major routes like I-5 and US-101. Residents are urged to take extra precautions during commutes.

Looking ahead, Sunday will see lighter rainfall with temperatures near 50 degrees. Skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy into early next week.

With the recent high winds downing branches and creating localized power outages overnight, residents are encouraged to clear storm debris, check drains, and remain prepared for additional rain accumulation.
