Seattle, WA – Residents in Western Washington should prepare for a potentially stormy weekend, as the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued alerts for severe thunderstorms and flash floods starting Saturday evening. The storms are expected to bring frequent lightning, gusty winds, and the possibility of small hail, particularly in the Cascades and surrounding areas.
According to the NWS, the thunderstorm threat will increase late Saturday and continue into Sunday morning, moving northward from Lewis County. A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for the Cascade Foothills due to the risk of heavy rainfall triggering flash floods and debris flows in areas with recent wildfire burn scars.
Temperatures in Seattle are forecasted to reach a high of 78°F on Saturday, with a 45% chance of rain. The chance of rain remains through Sunday, with temperatures slightly cooling to 75°F. Early next week, conditions will improve slightly, with partly cloudy skies on Monday and highs in the mid-70s, but cooler temperatures and cloudy skies are expected to return by Tuesday.
