Lake Stevens, WA – A 30-year-old Lake Stevens man is in custody after deputies say he carried out an armed robbery at a convenience store gas station earlier this week. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest Friday following a joint investigation by patrol deputies, the Robbery Burglary Unit (RBU), and the Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF).
According to deputies, the robbery occurred around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 16400 block of 84th Street NE in Lake Stevens. Surveillance footage showed the suspect arriving on a motorcycle with a backpack before removing an AK-47 rifle, entering the store, pointing the weapon at the clerk, and demanding money. The clerk complied and the suspect fled.
Investigators identified the suspect as a 30-year-old Lake Stevens resident through combined efforts of patrol deputies and RBU detectives. The VOTF then conducted surveillance at the suspect’s home in the 10300 block of 129th Ave NE and arrested him around 5 p.m. Thursday. Deputies said the man was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for first-degree robbery.
During the arrest, deputies saw several items believed to be tied to the robbery — including the motorcycle, helmet, riding gear, backpack, and rifle — in plain view inside the suspect’s open garage. Detectives obtained a search warrant to seize the evidence.
The suspect is expected to make his first court appearance in Snohomish County at 1 p.m. today. Officials noted that the investigation remains active.
