Pendleton, OR – The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories for mountain areas of Oregon and Washington, warning of heavy snow and dangerous travel conditions through the weekend.
- East Slopes of the Oregon Cascades: Snow expected above 4,500 feet from 8 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Monday, with 6–10 inches possible. Wind gusts up to 50 mph could cause blowing snow and downed tree branches.
- Eastern Washington Cascades Crest: Advisory in effect from 11 p.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday above 4,000 feet, with 6–10 inches of snow and gusts near 35 mph.
- Northern Blue Mountains (OR/WA): Snow expected above 4,500 feet from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday, with 6–10 inches of accumulation likely.
Forecasters warn that travel could become very difficult, particularly at higher-elevation routes such as Santiam Pass, Meacham, and Tollgate. Visibility will be low at times due to heavy snowfall and gusty winds.
