Pendleton, OR – The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Wind Advisory for the Eastern Columbia River Gorge and Simcoe Highlands, effective from 11 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.
According to the advisory, west winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts reaching 45 to 50 mph. The advisory includes areas in both Oregon and Washington, affecting communities such as The Dalles, White Salmon, Arlington, Bickleton, and Goldendale.
Forecasters warn that these gusty winds could knock down tree limbs, scatter unsecured outdoor items, and trigger isolated power outages. Drivers—especially those operating high-profile vehicles—should use extra caution when traveling through the Gorge overnight.
The Weather Service notes that the strongest winds will likely occur along ridge tops and open valleys, where funneling through the Gorge can amplify gusts.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor decorations, trash bins, and patio furniture before winds increase late Saturday evening.
