Washington skies hang gray over Spokane this morning, and damp roads could turn slushy as rain mixes with snow through the day.
Temperatures hover near 39 degrees with overcast conditions in place. Rain develops and becomes steadier by late morning. As colder air filters in, periods of rain may mix with wet snow this afternoon. Highs reach only about 45 degrees.
Little or no accumulation is expected in town today, but visibility could briefly drop in heavier showers. Drivers along I-90 and Highway 2 should allow extra space, especially during bursts of mixed precipitation.
Tonight, another round of rain and snow is possible before dawn. Lows fall near 34 degrees. Patchy fog may develop late, adding another travel concern.
Tuesday brings continued chances of rain and snow, mainly late morning into afternoon. Highs stay cool near 43 degrees. Snow levels lower toward 2,200 to 3,000 feet, but significant accumulation in Spokane remains unlikely. Still, slushy spots may develop on grassy surfaces and untreated roads.
Tuesday night keeps the rain/snow mix in play with lows around 31 degrees. If pavement remains wet, isolated slick patches could form by early Wednesday. This is prime time for brief flash freezing where temperatures dip near freezing.
By Wednesday afternoon, showers taper and partial sunshine returns. Highs climb near 45 degrees. Thursday turns mostly cloudy with a slight rain chance and highs near 47.
Looking ahead, temperatures moderate into the weekend, with more sunshine and gradual warming expected in the 6–10 day outlook.
