Spokane, Washington – Snow is spreading across the Inland Northwest overnight, coating roads from Spokane to Coeur d’Alene and creating slick conditions ahead of the Wednesday morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. PST Wednesday for the Spokane area, Washington Palouse, Idaho Palouse and Coeur d’Alene region. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected, with localized totals up to 5 inches where heavier bands set up.
Spokane Valley, Airway Heights and downtown Spokane may see steady snowfall before sunrise, while Coeur d’Alene, Hayden and Post Falls could experience bursts of moderate snow. On the Palouse, Pullman, Moscow, Colfax and surrounding rural highways may turn snow-covered quickly if heavier bands develop.
Bridges and overpasses will become slick first, and visibility could briefly drop during heavier snow showers. Drivers should slow down, allow extra stopping distance and plan for longer travel times. Conditions may vary sharply within just a few miles.
Snowfall should taper by midmorning, with gradual improvement after 10 a.m. Motorists can check Washington travel updates online or call 511 in Idaho for the latest road conditions before heading out.
