Spokane, Wash. – Temperatures across much of central and eastern Washington are climbing near 100°F again today, with Extreme Heat Warnings in effect for Chelan, Wenatchee, Moses Lake, Clarkston, and Lewiston. The National Weather Service reports that overnight lows offered little relief, with some areas still in the 70s by 4 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the weather service, the heat is expected to hold through Tuesday evening, with residents urged to drink water frequently, remain in air-conditioned spaces when possible, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. Lightweight, loose clothing is also advised.

A shift arrives Wednesday as a dry cold front pushes into the region, bringing gusty winds and significantly elevated fire danger. A Fire Weather Watch has been posted for areas including Moses Lake, Wenatchee, and Spokane from late Wednesday morning into the evening.

Cooler weather is on the way Friday into Saturday, with a chance for rain that could offer brief relief from the week’s intense heat and wildfire risk.
