Seattle, Washington – Scorching temperatures will grip western Washington this week, with Seattle expected to hit 90°F by Wednesday afternoon — marking one of the hottest days of the summer so far. A Heat Advisory goes into effect Tuesday at noon through 10 p.m. Wednesday, covering King, Snohomish, Pierce, and Thurston Counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, daytime highs will range from the upper 80s to mid-90s Tuesday and Wednesday, while overnight lows stay in the 60s. These conditions increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for the elderly, outdoor workers, and residents without air conditioning. The NWS is urging residents to limit outdoor activity, especially near high-traffic areas like I-5, where heat can intensify.

Cities including Tacoma, Everett, Redmond, Olympia, and Kent should brace for oppressive heat during peak afternoon hours. If you’re heading out, wear light, breathable clothing and drink water regularly. Do not leave children or pets in cars under any circumstances. For those who work outdoors, frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas are essential.

Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday will bring a slight cooldown, with highs in the mid-80s, before a more comfortable weekend sets in. Saturday and Sunday temperatures will hover near the mid-70s, offering a welcome break from the heat.

Warnings remain in effect through Wednesday night. Additional advisories may be issued if the heat persists.
