Seattle, Washington – A surge of summer heat is gripping the Puget Sound region, with temperatures in Seattle, Everett, and Tacoma climbing into the low 90s and health officials urging extra caution until 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, a Heat Advisory remains in effect for much of King, Snohomish, Pierce, Skagit, and Whatcom counties, with highs from the upper 80s to low 90s and nighttime lows in the 60s. The agency warns that these conditions pose a moderate risk for heat-related illness—especially for those without air conditioning or adequate hydration.

Communities including Bellevue, Marysville, Renton, Bellingham, and Mount Vernon could see the hottest stretch of the summer so far. Residents are encouraged to avoid outdoor activities during peak heat, check on vulnerable neighbors, and never leave children or pets in parked cars. Local hospitals and emergency services are on alert for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which can escalate quickly.

For outdoor workers and those spending extended time outside, officials recommend frequent breaks in shade, lightweight clothing, and extra water. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration urges shifting strenuous work to early morning or evening hours when possible.

Hot, dry conditions may linger into Friday in some areas. Stay tuned for further advisories if temperatures remain high.
