Ozaukee County, WI – The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office is increasing patrols this weekend as local communities gear up for Halloween festivities. Deputies will be out across the county, handing out treats and reminding drivers and families to stay alert during trick-or-treating hours.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies will focus on pedestrian-heavy neighborhoods to ensure safety for children and families. Officials are also encouraging residents to follow key Halloween safety tips: drivers should slow down, kids under 12 should be accompanied by an adult, and trick-or-treaters should carry glow sticks or flashlights to stay visible after dark.

Trick-or-treat times across Ozaukee County vary by community. Cedarburg’s city and town events will run Saturday, Oct. 25, from 5–8 p.m., while Grafton’s hours are set for 4–7 p.m. that same day. Fredonia, Saukville, and Port Washington will also hold trick-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 25, between 4–7 p.m. Mequon’s festivities begin a day earlier, Friday, Oct. 31, from 5–8 p.m., and Thiensville and Belgium will host theirs Sunday, Oct. 26.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds drivers to use extra caution near crosswalks and intersections and urges families to choose costumes that allow clear visibility.

🎃 “We hope everyone has a spooktacular and safe Halloween,” the department said.
