Spokane, WA – An atmospheric river will bring heavy rain and warm temperatures to Washington and Idaho, increasing flood risks through Monday. Rising temperatures will speed up lowland snowmelt, adding water to already swollen rivers and streams.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Spokane, a River Flood Watch has been issued for Paradise Creek in Moscow, ID, where water levels could exceed flood stage by early Sunday. Additionally, an Areal Flood Watch covers eastern Washington and northern Idaho, warning of possible minor flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents should prepare for rising water, flooded streets, and possible basement seepage. Authorities advise clearing storm drains, avoiding flooded roads, and monitoring updates at weather.gov/Spokane.
At 9.2 feet, Paradise Creek will spill over near Bridge Street and Hillcrest Drive. At 10 feet, water could flood homes, intersections, and local parks.
The flood risk will persist through Tuesday morning, with additional rainfall expected. Stay alert and take precautions to protect property.
