Spokane, WA – A major storm system is bringing heavy rain and warm temperatures to eastern Washington this weekend, raising the risk of flooding across Spokane and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), an atmospheric river is pushing into the region, bringing steady rain through Monday. With up to 1.25 inches of rainfall expected in lowlands and rapid snowmelt in the mountains, rivers and streams could overflow. The Little Spokane River, Hangman Creek, and the Palouse River are at risk of reaching flood stage by Sunday.
Officials urge residents to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential road closures, standing water, and rising stream levels. Avoid driving through flooded roadways and clear storm drains near your home.
The forecast calls for rain Sunday and Monday, with temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. Drier conditions may return by Tuesday.
