Wenatchee, WA – The National Weather Service Spokane has issued Flood Warnings for the Wenatchee River at Peshastin, the Entiat River near Ardenvoir, and the Stehekin River at Stehekin, as water levels are forecast to rise above flood stage between Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning.
According to river gauge forecasts, the Wenatchee River could crest around 15.6 feet late Thursday, which would result in moderate to major flooding between Leavenworth and Wenatchee. This would mark the river’s highest level since 2006. Flooding of low-lying areas, especially near Cashmere, is likely.
The Stehekin River is also expected to rise significantly, reaching a peak near 26.2 feet, well above the 24-foot flood stage. Flooding is possible near McGregor Meadows Road and Harlequin Campground, with the river likely spilling out of its banks in parts of the Stehekin Valley and Company Creek Road area.
Further south, the Entiat River may crest around 7.6 feet Thursday morning—just above minor flood stage—with a small chance of exceeding 8.5 feet, a level not seen since the 1970s. Some homes and orchards in the Entiat Valley could experience flooding if levels rise higher than expected.
“Please do not drive through standing water,” the National Weather Service warned in a Wednesday statement. “You never know how deep the water is or if the road beneath has been washed out or compromised. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
Residents across Chelan County are urged to monitor local forecasts, stay away from flooded riverbanks, and prepare for potential road closures or access restrictions through Friday.
