Chelan, WA – A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of the central Washington Cascades, including Chelan, Wenatchee, and surrounding foothill areas, from 3 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, critical fire weather conditions are expected due to strong winds and low humidity. Forecasters report northwest winds between 15–20 mph with gusts reaching 25–35 mph, and some localized areas could see gusts as high as 40 mph.

The greatest area of concern is the Lower Sugarloaf Fire near Entiat, which could spread rapidly under these conditions. The Labor Mountain Fire, located closer to Blewett Pass, also remains active and could expand with shifting winds.

Officials warn that residents across Chelan County, including Wenatchee, Leavenworth, and Entiat, should remain alert. Fire crews are already stretched, and the expected wind gusts could lead to sudden changes in fire direction and intensity.

The Red Flag Warning covers much of the eastern Cascade foothills, where a combination of dry fuels, gusty winds, and low humidity creates a high risk for fire spread. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents are urged to have evacuation plans in place should conditions worsen.
