Spokane, WA – Washington residents are under a dust storm alert Friday afternoon as thunderstorms sweep through the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that visibility may drop to one mile or less until 8 p.m.

According to the NWS, gusty winds from the thunderstorms moving out of northern Oregon are expected to stir up widespread dust. This will impact key routes such as I-90 from George to Sprague, Highway 2 from Waterville to Davenport, and Highway 395 from the Tri-Cities to Ritzville. Some areas may experience even lower visibility.

Drivers should be cautious, particularly on rural roads where sudden dust storms could significantly reduce visibility. Travelers should plan for potential delays and stay informed on changing conditions.
