Seattle, WA – Two brothers were taken into custody Wednesday morning after Seattle police reportedly uncovered a significant alleged drug-dealing operation inside a custom auto body shop in the city’s Chinatown-International District.
According to the Seattle Police Department, narcotics detectives arrested the 42- and 48-year-old suspects around 10:30 a.m. after observing a steady flow of individuals purchasing methamphetamine from the garage in the 700 block of South Jackson Street.
Police served a search warrant with assistance from the Community Response Group (CRG), leading to the discovery of a large quantity of narcotics, firearms, and cash. According to investigators, police recovered 151.7 grams of cocaine, 7.4 grams of methamphetamine, multiple handguns, ammunition, and $6,922 in cash. Two digital scales with narcotics residue were also found at the scene.
The General Investigations Unit (GIU) joined the search to inspect several electric bicycles found inside. Officers recovered one bicycle reported stolen.
Police booked both men into King County Jail on narcotics-related charges under the Uniformed Controlled Substances Act. Additional charges are expected for the 48-year-old brother, the business owner, for the alleged unlawful use of a building for drug purposes.
Several other individuals found inside the premises were detained, questioned, and later released, police said.
Lt. Jim Kelly of the SPD Narcotics Unit praised the collaborative efforts of CRG and GIU. “The arrest of these two brothers will give some relief to the residents and legitimate businesses in the International District,” he stated.
