Washington, District of Columbia – Residents across the Washington-Baltimore region can expect a stretch of pleasant summer weather through Tuesday before the next chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives by Wednesday afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, high pressure moving into the Mid-Atlantic will bring drier conditions, partly cloudy skies and comfortable temperatures to start the workweek. Monday highs will range from 62 to 83 degrees across the region, with cooler readings in the mountains and warmer temperatures closer to the urban corridor.

Conditions become even warmer Tuesday as sunshine dominates much of the day. High temperatures are expected to reach the upper 60s to lower 80s in western areas and the low 80s across much of central Maryland, northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Attention then turns to Wednesday as a stronger cold front approaches from the west. Showers and thunderstorms could develop during the afternoon and evening, particularly east of Interstate 81, including Washington, Baltimore, Frederick, Rockville, Arlington, Alexandria and surrounding suburbs. Highs will climb into the 70s and 80s ahead of the front, with some locations approaching 87 degrees.

While severe weather details remain uncertain, residents should monitor forecast updates as the front moves closer. Additional advisories or thunderstorm alerts may be issued if stronger storms become more likely later this week.
