Washington, DC – A gray and damp start to the week could slow commuters across the District, with scattered showers expected Monday into Tuesday before sunnier conditions return midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, Washington will see a 20 percent chance of light rain Monday, mainly in the morning and again after 2 p.m., with highs reaching the upper 70s. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-60s under cloudy skies. A similar setup continues Tuesday with spotty showers possible after 8 a.m., though most areas will remain dry.

The unsettled weather could make for slick streets along I-395, the Capital Beltway, and downtown corridors during the Monday and Tuesday rush hours. Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time and use caution on wet roads. Winds will stay light, generally under 10 mph, keeping conditions humid.

By Wednesday, drier air begins to build with partly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s. The stretch into Thursday and Friday looks warm and dry, a more favorable setup for outdoor events across the city.

Showers could make a brief return by Sunday, but forecasters note the stronger trend points to a late-week warm-up with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
