Washington, DC – A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect tonight for Anne Arundel County, where moderate tidal flooding is expected along sensitive shorelines during high tide. Drivers near Annapolis and communities bordering the Chesapeake Bay may encounter water over low-lying roads.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning will remain in place through the overnight high tide cycle before conditions ease by Wednesday. Elsewhere across the region, patchy drizzle and fog are creating reduced visibility early Wednesday, especially near I-95 and major commuter routes between Baltimore and Washington.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with gusty winds up to 25 mph along the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. Travelers on the Bay Bridge and along U.S. 50 should be prepared for slick roads and sudden downpours.

By Friday, conditions improve as skies clear, setting up a mostly sunny and warmer weekend. Highs will climb into the mid-80s Saturday and Sunday, with only a slight chance of pop-up afternoon storms inland.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways tonight and monitor local advisories. Additional flood statements may be issued if tides run higher than expected.
