Washington, DC – Temperatures are climbing into the 40s and low 50s Monday afternoon before cooling into the 30s tonight across the Interstate 95 corridor and surrounding areas.
According to the US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, highs will peak in the mid-40s to low 50s under a mix of sun and clouds. Dry conditions are expected to continue through the evening as temperatures gradually fall after sunset.
Forecast readings show Washington, DC reaching 45 degrees by 4 p.m., easing to 39 degrees by 10 p.m. Baltimore is expected to top out near 43 degrees before cooling to 38 degrees late tonight. Farther south and west, Charlottesville could reach 52 degrees, while Fredericksburg approaches 48 degrees before temperatures settle into the mid-30s.
Communities along I-95, I-83, I-68 and US-29 may notice a steady temperature drop through the evening commute, though no precipitation is forecast. Oakland, Maryland is expected to cool to the mid-30s by late evening, with similar conditions in Martinsburg, West Virginia and Harrisonburg, Virginia.
The dry pattern reduces travel disruptions, but drivers may experience colder conditions after sunset as readings approach freezing in higher elevations.
