Washington, DC – A nationwide recall targets Trader Joe’s chicken fried rice over possible glass contamination.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the recall affects 20-ounce bags of Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice with Best By dates ranging from Sept. 8, 2026, through Nov. 17, 2026.

USDA officials said the action was taken after the potential presence of foreign material — specifically glass — was identified in the product. The agency did not immediately disclose how the contamination was discovered or whether any injuries have been reported.

Consumers are urged not to eat the recalled product. Instead, officials recommend throwing it away or returning it to the place of purchase for a refund.

The recall applies to products distributed nationwide. Shoppers are encouraged to check the Best By date printed on the package to determine whether their purchase is included.

Foreign object contamination can pose a risk of injury if consumed. The USDA said it is continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates if additional information becomes available.

The recall may be especially relevant for students and young professionals who rely on frozen meals as quick, affordable dinner options.

Consumers with questions can contact the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline or visit the agency’s website for recall updates.
