Washington, DC – House Democratic leadership on Tuesday warned that a social media post attributed to Trump could escalate global tensions toward World War III, citing the language as dangerous and destabilizing.
According to an official statement, leaders said Trump’s message “threatening to eradicate an entire civilization shocks the conscience and requires a decisive congressional response.”
The response follows a widely circulated post attributed to Trump stating that “a whole civilization will die tonight” while referencing “complete and total regime change” in Iran.
House Democrats called for immediate action, stating, “The House must come back into session immediately and vote to end this reckless war of choice… before Donald Trump plunges our country into World War III.”
They added, “Enough is enough,” urging Republican lawmakers to “put patriotic duty over party loyalty.”
Some lawmakers also raised concerns about the potential diplomatic fallout. However, as of Tuesday, there has been no official confirmation that diplomatic communications between the United States and Iran have been formally severed.
