Baltimore, Md. – Light showers and patchy drizzle made for a cool and damp Tuesday morning across Maryland, but the reprieve from summer heat will be short-lived as temperatures climb sharply midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, morning rain is expected to taper off by afternoon, especially outside the mountainous western counties. Highs will range from the upper 60s in higher elevations to the low 70s across central and eastern Maryland. However, a major warm-up begins Wednesday with highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s through Friday.

Drivers should expect reduced visibility in areas of fog and drizzle tonight, particularly along I-70 and I-95 corridors. Conditions will be cloudier near Washington, D.C., and Frederick, with scattered mist and cool air sticking around until early Wednesday.

Residents are advised to monitor indoor temperatures and limit outdoor activity later this week as the region enters a hot, humid pattern more typical of late July. Stay hydrated, use fans or AC when possible, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

More heat advisories may be issued by Thursday if temperatures and humidity spike as expected.
