Farmington, WI – A vehicle carrying three coworkers left the roadway and became airborne before crashing into a home along County Highway H on Sunday afternoon, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say the crash happened around 12:00 p.m. and resulted in multiple injuries, including one passenger who required emergency transport to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, 911 callers reported that a person was lying injured on the ground outside the vehicle and that all three occupants had been inside the car when it struck the house. Deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol troopers, Fillmore Fire Department personnel, and Newburg Rescue responded. The Village of Kewaskum Police Department assisted by shutting down County Highway H for several hours.
Prior to the arrival of Sheriff’s Office units, a member of the Waubeka Fire Department came upon the scene, recognized the severity of the injuries, and requested West Bend Intercept and Flight for Life.
The initial investigation indicates that a verbal dispute broke out between the driver and rear passenger shortly before the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle entered a ditch, went airborne, and hit the home several feet above ground level. The driver and front-seat passenger sustained minor injuries, while rescuers worked to extricate the rear passenger, who suffered serious injuries.
The residence was occupied at the time, but no one inside the home was hurt. The structure sustained significant damage; however, a full repair estimate has not yet been determined.
County Highway H remained closed for approximately three and a half hours for reconstruction and vehicle removal. The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
