JONESBOROUGH, TN – A Johnson City woman was arrested early Tuesday morning after Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic assault in progress on Kingsport Highway.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies arrived at a residence in the 5700 block of Kingsport Highway around 1:15 a.m. and heard two females fighting inside. One was reportedly begging to leave when officers entered.
Deputies said the victim had bruising on both sides of her neck, suggesting possible strangulation. The suspect, identified as Alyssa Marie Waldrop, 24, allegedly took the victim’s cell phone to stop her from calling for help.
Investigators determined Waldrop was the primary aggressor and took her into custody at the scene. She was charged with Aggravated Assault and False Imprisonment and is being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center.
Waldrop’s first court appearance on the charges is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 21.
