According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded to a residence in the 100 block of Smith Lane around 6 p.m. on Sept. 15. The victims told deputies that during an argument, Ricky Allen Smith, 52, allegedly pressed a pillow against one individual’s face in an attempt to block their ability to breathe. A second victim was allegedly struck in the face multiple times by Smith, leaving visible injuries.
Emergency Medical Services evaluated both victims at the scene. Deputies reported that the injuries were consistent with the victims’ accounts. Smith was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
According to the sheriff’s office, Smith has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Simple Domestic Assault. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Sept. 16.
