JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. — Deputies arrested a Johnson City man after a late-night domestic incident involving children Wednesday.
According to Washington County Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies responded shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, to a reported domestic situation at a residence in the 1200 block of Huffine Road in Jonesborough.
When deputies arrived, officials said they heard pleas for help coming from inside the home. Authorities said children were present during the incident.
Deputies forced entry into the residence after hearing the calls for help, according to the sheriff’s office.
Lucas Juarez Antonio, 31, of Johnson City, was arrested and charged with two counts of child endangerment and one count each of domestic assault (simple), interference with emergency calls, and resisting arrest. Authorities say Antonio allegedly resisted deputies before being taken into custody.
Neighbors told deputies they heard the victim screaming for help and children crying during the incident.
Investigators said the victim reported that Antonio allegedly kept her phone and told her not to respond while deputies were attempting to gain entry to the home.
Antonio was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $10,000 bond.
According to the sheriff’s office, he is scheduled to appear in court March 5.
Domestic calls involving children often trigger urgent law enforcement responses because of the potential risk to families and nearby residents.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
