Jonesborough, TN – A Johnson City woman was arrested Saturday after Washington County Sheriff’s deputies allegedly found methamphetamine, pills, and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop on Old State Route 34.
According to Sheriff Keith Sexton, deputies pulled over a vehicle near Roy Green Road on October 19 after observing it weaving across the double yellow and fog lines. The driver, identified as April Dawn Hixon, 44, was reportedly unable to produce a valid license or proof of insurance.
A K9 unit, Rico, performed an open-air sniff and alerted to the trunk area. Deputies say they found a glass pipe with white residue and two syringes inside a black bag.
During a personal search, deputies allegedly discovered about 4.5 grams of methamphetamine and several pills later identified as Gabapentin, a Schedule V controlled substance. Hixon was charged with Manufacture/Delivery/Sell/Possession of Methamphetamine, Schedule V Drug Violations, Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia, and multiple traffic offenses.
She was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where she is being held on a $12,000 bond. Hixon is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday, October 20.
