Washington County, OR – A motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday morning after being struck by an SUV on SW Johnson School Road, authorities said.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:13 a.m. near the 33000 block of SW Johnson School Road, where a 2012 Toyota Highlander collided with an oncoming motorcycle. Investigators determined that 30-year-old Cristhian Carranza of Forest Grove was driving eastbound when he allegedly attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone, crashing head-on into the westbound motorcyclist.
The sheriff’s office said the motorcycle rider was transported by Life Flight to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Highlander also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance for treatment.
The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) was called to the scene and closed SW Johnson School Road between SW Tongue Lane and SW Riedweg Road for the investigation. Deputies said the roadway remained closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
Authorities confirmed the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time. Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken with investigators to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch, referencing case number 50-25-12320.
