Hillsboro, OR – A Washington County man is facing new charges after allegedly fleeing from a courtroom moments after being sentenced last week, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, when deputies and Hillsboro Police responded to reports of a man running from the courthouse.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Elijah Carrillo-Saucedo had just appeared before a judge on probation matters related to a 2022 assault case. After Judge Wipper revoked his probation and sentenced him to 51 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections, Carrillo-Saucedo reportedly hugged a family member and ran out of the courtroom before deputies could take him into custody.

Deputies and Senior Deputy District Attorney John Gerhard chased Carrillo-Saucedo several blocks and caught him near the intersection of NE 3rd Avenue and NE Jackson Street in Hillsboro.

Carrillo-Saucedo was arrested and later charged with second-degree escape. On December 16, 2025, a Washington County Grand Jury reviewed the case and returned an indictment supporting the charge.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the quick responses from deputies, officers, and the deputy district attorney, noting that “the incident was resolved safely.”
