Cornelius, OR – A Washington County man has been arrested following an early morning explosion at a Cornelius home last week that investigators believe was a targeted attack, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 4:13 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025, to reports of an explosive device thrown at a residence near the 300 block of N 10th Avenue. The 911 caller found multiple bullet holes in the home’s door, but officials confirmed that no one was injured by the explosion or gunfire.
Investigators identified the suspect as 37-year-old Samuel Lund of Beaverton. Deputies say Lund was known to the victim. Multiple specialized units—including the Community Violence Reduction Team, Tactical Negotiations Team, and Metro Explosives Disposal Unit—joined the investigation, citing concerns about additional explosives and firearms.
Around 10:30 p.m., officers spotted Lund leaving his home on a bicycle near SW Scholls Ferry Road, where he was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of his Beaverton residence uncovered additional explosive devices, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Lund was booked into the Washington County Jail on multiple charges, including Attempted Murder, Arson, Unlawful Manufacture of a Destructive Device, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
