Washington County, OR – Detectives with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are asking potential victims to come forward following the indictment of a Cornelius man accused of sexually assaulting a minor he allegedly met through social media.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began in December 2025 after Vancouver Police notified detectives of a reported sexual assault. The victim told hospital staff in Vancouver, Washington, that the assault took place in Washington County, Oregon.

Detectives say the 21-year-old suspect allegedly contacted the victim on Snapchat, then drove to Vancouver on December 24, 2025, to meet in person. He is accused of taking the victim to Cornelius, providing alcohol and drugs, and sexually assaulting them.

On January 26, 2026, investigators arrested the suspect, identified as Alexis Jovanny Leyva-Lopez, and lodged him in the Washington County Jail. A grand jury indicted Leyva-Lopez on January 30 on multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree rape, three counts of second-degree rape, three counts of second-degree sodomy, six counts of first-degree sexual abuse, and one count of strangulation.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 503-846-2500, referencing case number 50-25-18247.

The Sheriff’s Office released the suspect’s booking photo under Oregon House Bill 3273 to help identify potential additional criminal activity.
