Investigators said Whiteford and the victim were involved in a mutual altercation before the incident escalated. The victim reportedly retreated to a bedroom and locked the door when Whiteford allegedly retrieved a large kitchen knife. Deputies say Whiteford forced open the bedroom door and attacked the victim, allegedly stabbing them multiple times. Witnesses reported overhearing Whiteford threaten the victim’s life during the assault.
Whiteford fled before deputies arrived but was located shortly afterward during a traffic stop, authorities said.
