Marietta, OH – A Waterford Township man is facing multiple felony charges after deputies say he allegedly stabbed another individual several times during an altercation late Saturday night.

According to Sheriff Mark Warden, deputies responded on Nov. 30 to a 911 call at 540 Main Street, Apt. B, in Waterford Township. The caller reported that Brendan Jamal Whiteford had allegedly stabbed a victim who was later transported to a local hospital with multiple stab wounds to the chest and legs.

Investigators said Whiteford and the victim were involved in a mutual altercation before the incident escalated. The victim reportedly retreated to a bedroom and locked the door when Whiteford allegedly retrieved a large kitchen knife. Deputies say Whiteford forced open the bedroom door and attacked the victim, allegedly stabbing them multiple times. Witnesses reported overhearing Whiteford threaten the victim’s life during the assault.

Whiteford fled before deputies arrived but was located shortly afterward during a traffic stop, authorities said. According to the sheriff’s office, he had visible cuts, blood on his clothing, and signs of being involved in a physical altercation. Whiteford allegedly refused to cooperate with investigators during questioning.

Whiteford, 31, of Waterford, OH, was arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail. He is charged with attempted murder, a first-degree felony, and felonious assault, a second-degree felony. Officials said additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.

Whiteford appeared in Marietta Municipal Court, where his bond was set at $503,500 plus a PR bond, according to court records.
